(ZOOM) Famous Self Portraits: Artists as Their Own Muses
Artistic self-portraits can be traced back to the very beginning of creative human expression. This lecture explores several famous artists' self-portraits as we learn and consider the questions: What does an artist's self-portrait say about the time they lived in, the style they painted in, and how they viewed themself?
Our presenter: Mallory Mortillaro serves as the Curator of Collections for the Hartley Dodge Foundation in Madison, NJ. While cataloging the Dodge Memorial collection of artworks for the Foundation, she famously discovered a Rodin masterpiece that had been lost to the art world since the 1930's. She is also an art historian and educator and has worked on various art research projects for museums and organizations in the NYC area. She studied at Drew University and lives in New Jersey with her family.
